Medical weight loss with Wegovy® or Mounjaro® is suitable for adults with a BMI of 30 or above, or 27 and above with weight-related health issues such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, or insulin resistance. We will assess your full health history during your consultation.

Clinical studies show an average weight loss of up to 15% of body weight with Wegovy®, and up to 22.5% with Mounjaro® over a 68–72 week period. Individual results vary depending on your starting point, commitment to the program, and other lifestyle factors. 

Both Wegovy® and Mounjaro® work by mimicking hormones that regulate appetite and blood sugar, helping you feel fuller for longer and reducing food cravings. Mounjaro® targets two hormone pathways for potentially enhanced results. 

Your Wegovy® or Mounjaro® pens should be stored in a refrigerator at 2°C to 8°C (36°F to 46°F) until you are ready to use them. Do not freeze the pens. If necessary, the pens can be kept at room temperature (up to 30°C) for up to 28 days. Always keep them in their original packaging to protect them from light. 

Yes, absolutely. During your initial consultation, Dr Jackie will guide you through exactly how to use your injection pen safely and confidently. You’ll be shown how to prepare the pen, choose an injection site, and administer the dose yourself. We make sure you feel completely comfortable before you begin treatment. 

Some people experience mild side effects such as nausea, constipation, diarrhoea, or appetite changes when first starting treatment. These often settle as your body adjusts. We carefully monitor your progress and adjust doses if needed to keep you comfortable. 

Weight loss is a gradual journey. Most patients stay on treatment for several months to achieve their goals, followed by a maintenance phase if appropriate. We will create a personalised plan tailored to your progress and needs. 

After reaching your target, we can support you with either a gradual tapering of medication or a lower maintenance dose, alongside advice for sustaining your results long-term with healthy habits.

Yes. Wegovy® and Mounjaro® may not be suitable if you have certain medical conditions. These include a history of medullary thyroid cancer, pancreatitis, multiple endocrine neoplasia syndrome type 2 (MEN 2), severe gastrointestinal disease, or known hypersensitivity to the ingredients. We will carry out a full health assessment at your consultation to ensure treatment is safe and appropriate for you. 

 No. Wegovy® and Mounjaro® are not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding. If you are planning a pregnancy, currently pregnant, or breastfeeding, you should not start treatment. We will discuss your plans and timing carefully during your consultation to ensure your safety. 

Allergic reactions to Wegovy® or Mounjaro® are very rare. However, as with any medication, it is possible to experience a hypersensitivity reaction. Symptoms could include rash, swelling, or difficulty breathing. If you experience any signs of an allergic reaction, you should seek immediate medical attention. We will review your medical history carefully at your consultation to minimise any risk.
