Under-Eye Rejuvenation

Refresh Tired-Looking Eyes, Without Adding Volume

The skin around the eyes is particularly delicate and is often one of the first areas to show changes in hydration, texture and skin quality.

Fine lines, crepiness and a generally tired appearance can develop over time, but not every under-eye concern is caused by the same thing — and not every concern needs dermal filler.

At ReNu Medical Aesthetics, Dr Jackie offers a doctor-led approach to under-eye rejuvenation, assessing the skin and surrounding anatomy before recommending whether treatment is likely to be worthwhile. The aim is subtle improvement in skin quality and freshness without changing the natural character of your eyes.

What Is Under-Eye Mesotherapy?

Under-eye mesotherapy uses a series of tiny, superficial injections to deliver specially selected skin-rejuvenating ingredients directly into the delicate under-eye skin.

Depending on your individual needs, Dr Jackie may select formulations containing polynucleotides, hyaluronic acid and other skin-supporting ingredients, chosen to support hydration, skin quality and regeneration.

Treatment is aimed primarily at improving the quality, hydration and texture of the skin, rather than adding volume or changing the structure of the under-eye area.

It may be considered for:

  • Fine, crepey under-eye skin
  • Dehydration
  • Early fine lines
  • Dull or tired-looking skin
  • General deterioration in under-eye skin quality

The product and treatment technique are selected by Dr Jackie following assessment, so you don't need to choose an injectable product beforehand.

Not Every Dark Circle Is a Skin Problem

Dark circles and a tired appearance around the eyes can have several different causes, including:

  • Thin skin and visible underlying vessels
  • Pigmentation
  • Shadowing from tear-trough anatomy
  • Volume loss
  • Puffiness or eye bags
  • Skin laxity
  • A combination of several factors

Mesotherapy cannot correct all of these. Understanding why your eyes look tired is therefore more important than simply choosing an eye treatment. Following assessment, Dr Jackie can explain what is realistically treatable and whether mesotherapy — or another approach — is more appropriate.

What to Expect

Consultation
Dr Jackie will assess your under-eye skin, facial anatomy, medical history and what specifically concerns you about the area.

Treatment
Small amounts of the selected product are placed superficially into the under-eye skin using a fine needle and mesotherapy technique. Treatment is carefully tailored because the skin around the eyes is thin and delicate.

Downtime
Small raised areas at injection points, redness and mild swelling are expected immediately after treatment. Bruising can occur and can sometimes be noticeable around the eye. These effects generally settle over the following days, although individual recovery varies.

Results
Changes are usually subtle and gradual rather than dramatic. The aim is improvement in skin quality rather than creating volume or significantly altering the anatomy beneath the eye. Depending on your starting skin and the treatment selected, a course of treatments may be recommended.

Treatment Pricing

Under-Eye Rejuvenation — £125 per session
Course of 3 — £350

The treatment product and approach will be selected by Dr Jackie following assessment of your individual under-eye concerns.

Mesotherapy or Tear-Trough Filler?

They are quite different treatments.

Under-eye mesotherapy primarily targets the quality and condition of the skin.

Tear-trough filler is a structural treatment intended to address selected anatomical hollows using dermal filler.

Not everyone with a visible tear trough is suitable for filler, and adding filler can be particularly unhelpful where puffiness, fluid retention or certain anatomical features are present. Equally, mesotherapy won't correct a significant structural hollow.

Dr Jackie will assess what is actually contributing to your under-eye appearance before discussing which — if either — approach is appropriate.

Other Approaches to Under-Eye Rejuvenation

Sometimes an injectable treatment isn't the best starting point. Depending on what is causing the concern, your plan may include:

  • Medical-grade eye skincare
  • LED phototherapy
  • Polynucleotide treatment
  • Treatment of surrounding facial areas where appropriate
  • Or no procedural treatment at all

Different treatments address different components of the ageing eye area, so the aim is to choose the simplest approach likely to make a worthwhile difference.

Our Approach to Eye Rejuvenation

 • Doctor-led assessment

 • Treatment selected for your anatomy

 • Subtle results

 • No unnecessary volume

The under-eye area is not somewhere to simply select a product from a menu.

At ReNu, Dr Jackie will first consider skin quality, pigmentation, puffiness, volume, facial structure and the position of shadows before discussing what can realistically be improved. The aim is to help your eyes appear fresher while keeping them looking naturally yours.

Under-eye mesotherapy FAQs

Under-eye mesotherapy uses multiple small, superficial injections to place a selected product within the delicate skin around the eye. It is primarily intended to improve skin quality, rather than provide the structural volume associated with dermal filler.

Sometimes — but it depends entirely on what is causing them.

Dark circles can result from pigmentation, thin skin and visible blood vessels, facial anatomy and shadowing, volume loss or a combination of these factors. No single injectable treatment can address every cause, which is why assessment is important before treatment.

Tear-trough filler is used to provide structural correction in carefully selected patients with an anatomical hollow. Mesotherapy works much more superficially and is intended primarily to improve the quality of the skin. One is not a gentler version of the other — they address different problems.

Possibly. Temporary small bumps, redness and swelling are common following superficial injections. Bruising can also occur because the eye area has a rich blood supply and delicate skin. It is sensible to allow for the possibility of visible bruising when planning treatment around important events.

This depends on your skin, the product selected and what you are trying to improve.

A course may be recommended where repeated treatment is likely to provide additional benefit, followed by reassessment rather than automatically continuing treatment indefinitely.

Yes, where there is a reason to do so. For example, medical-grade skincare, LED phototherapy or polynucleotides may have complementary roles depending on your skin and concerns. The aim isn't to combine treatments routinely but to build an appropriate plan for the different components of the eye area.

“I was starting to feel like my eyes always looked tired, no matter how much sleep I got. After treatment the skin looked smoother and I felt fresher, without looking different.”
