Profhilo® is an injectable hyaluronic acid treatment designed to improve skin hydration and support skin remodelling, helping skin appear smoother, firmer and more radiant.

Best suited to: Dehydrated, crepey or ageing skin where improved hydration and overall skin quality are the priority.

Typical course: 2 treatments, approximately 4 weeks apart.

Best suited to: Ageing, sun-damaged, crepey or thinning skin and those seeking gradual, natural-looking skin rejuvenation.

Typical course: 3 treatments, approximately 4 weeks apart.

Which Treatment Is Right For Me?

There isn't one skin injectable that is right for everyone.

Profhilo® may be particularly appropriate where hydration and skin remodelling are the main priorities, while polynucleotides such as Plinest® may be considered where regenerative support and age-related changes in skin quality are the focus.

Sometimes an injectable treatment isn't the best starting point. Depending on your skin, Dr Jackie may recommend medical-grade skincare, professional skin peels, microneedling, LED phototherapy or a combination of approaches instead.

Your skin will be assessed before treatment and the options discussed with you, so you don't need to decide which product or treatment you need before your consultation.

What to Expect?

Consultation
Dr Jackie will assess your skin quality, medical history, concerns and treatment goals before recommending whether an injectable skin treatment is appropriate and, if so, which approach is best suited to you.

Treatment
Small amounts of the selected product are injected into carefully planned points or areas of the skin. The technique used will vary according to the product and area being treated.

Downtime
Temporary redness, tenderness, swelling, bruising or small raised areas at injection sites can occur. These commonly improve over the following few days, although individual recovery varies.

Results
Changes are generally gradual rather than dramatic. Improvements in hydration and skin quality may become apparent over the weeks following treatment and can continue to develop during a treatment course. The degree and duration of improvement vary between individuals and treatments.

What is the difference between skin boosters, regenerative treatments and dermal fillers?

Dermal fillers are primarily used to restore volume, enhance contour or support facial structure.

Skin boosters are intended principally to improve characteristics such as hydration and overall skin quality, while regenerative injectable treatments such as polynucleotides aim to support biological processes involved in skin repair and renewal.

The distinction isn't always absolute, which is why treatment is selected according to your skin rather than simply choosing a product from a menu.

What is the difference between Profhilo® and Plinest®?

Profhilo® is a hyaluronic acid injectable treatment primarily used for skin hydration and remodelling.

Plinest® contains polynucleotides and is used with the aim of supporting the skin's regenerative processes and improving skin quality over time.

Neither is inherently “better”. The most appropriate treatment depends on your skin, the area being treated and what you are hoping to improve.

How many sessions will I need?

A typical initial Profhilo® course consists of two treatments approximately four weeks apart.

A typical Plinest® course consists of three treatments approximately four weeks apart.

These are general treatment protocols rather than a guarantee that everyone requires the same number of sessions. Your treatment plan will be individualised.

Is there any downtime after treatment?

Usually relatively little, but these are injectable treatments and they are not completely downtime-free.

Temporary redness, tenderness, swelling, bruising and small raised areas at injection sites can occur for 24-48 hours.

The expected recovery for your particular treatment will be discussed before you proceed.

How soon will I see results?

These treatments are intended to produce gradual improvements in skin quality rather than an immediate change in facial appearance.

The timing varies according to the treatment and individual response. Some people notice changes in hydration relatively early, while improvements in overall skin quality may develop progressively during and after a treatment course.

How long do the results last?

There is no single duration that applies to everyone. Longevity depends on the treatment undertaken, your starting skin quality, individual response and other factors.

Rather than automatically treating at fixed intervals, Dr Jackie can reassess your skin and advise when — or whether — further treatment would be worthwhile.

Can skin boosters be combined with other aesthetic treatments?

Yes. Skin boosters and regenerative treatments can form part of a broader skin health and rejuvenation plan alongside medical-grade skincare, professional skin peels, microneedling and LED phototherapy.

The most appropriate combination and timing of treatments will depend on your skin, your goals and how your skin responds. More treatment is not necessarily better — the aim is to build a personalised plan rather than simply combine procedures.
