Lip Augmentation

Restore Soft Volume, Redefine Youthful Contour

As we age, our lips naturally lose volume, definition and hydration. Fine lines around the mouth can become more noticeable, while the lips themselves may appear thinner or less defined.

At ReNu Medical Aesthetics, Dr Jackie offers subtle, elegant lip enhancement with a particular focus on restoring age-related changes — enhancing softness, shape and proportion rather than creating exaggerated volume.

Every treatment begins with an individual assessment of your lips, facial proportions and what you would like to achieve.

What to Expect

Consultation
Dr Jackie will assess your lip shape, facial proportions, skin quality and treatment goals before discussing whether lip augmentation is appropriate for you.

Treatment
Lip augmentation is performed using hyaluronic acid dermal filler. The amount and placement of filler are individually planned to enhance your natural lip shape and maintain facial balance. Topical anaesthetic may be used for comfort, and many dermal fillers also contain lidocaine.

Downtime
Swelling, tenderness and bruising are common following lip filler treatment, particularly during the first 24–72 hours. Some swelling can persist for several days, so your final result should be assessed once this has settled.

Results
An improvement is visible immediately, although the appearance will change as any initial swelling subsides. Results commonly last several months, but longevity varies between individuals and according to the product and treatment undertaken.

Could a Lip Flip Be Right for Me?

Lip enhancement doesn't always require dermal filler.

A Lip Flip uses small amounts of botulinum toxin to relax part of the muscle around the upper lip. This can allow the upper lip to roll slightly outwards, revealing a little more of the pink lip without adding filler volume.

It may be worth considering if your upper lip tends to disappear when you smile, or if you would like a very subtle change without adding volume with dermal filler.

The effect develops gradually following treatment and is temporary, typically lasting around 8–12 weeks.

Not sure whether dermal filler, a Lip Flip or no treatment at all would be most appropriate? Dr Jackie can assess your lip shape and movement and discuss the options with you.

Our Approach to Lip Enhancement

 • Subtle, proportionate results

 • Doctor-led assessment and treatment

 • Honest advice, including when treatment isn't needed

The aim is not to create a different pair of lips, but to work with your existing anatomy to achieve a natural result that remains in proportion with the rest of your face.

If you have existing lip filler that you are unhappy with, Dr Jackie can also advise you about filler dissolving and whether this may be appropriate before further treatment.

Lip Augmentation FAQs

The aim at ReNu is subtle, balanced enhancement. Treatment is individually planned around your existing lip shape and facial proportions, with the emphasis on restoring or enhancing rather than simply adding volume.

Lip filler uses hyaluronic acid to add volume and contour to the lips. A Lip Flip uses a small dose of botulinum toxin to gently relax the top lip, allowing it to roll outward slightly — creating the appearance of a fuller upper lip without adding volume. Many clients choose both for best results.

They can be. Age-related changes to the lips can include loss of volume and definition, flattening of the lip contour and the development of fine lines around the mouth.

Carefully placed dermal filler can be used to restore softness, shape and support while maintaining a natural appearance. The appropriate approach depends on your individual anatomy and will be discussed during consultation.

Lip filler commonly lasts around 6–12 months, although this varies between individuals and depends on factors including the product used, the amount and placement of filler and individual metabolism.

You do not necessarily need treatment as soon as the effect begins to diminish. Further treatment should be based on your appearance and goals rather than a fixed schedule.

Lip injections can be uncomfortable, but measures can be taken to make treatment more comfortable. Topical anaesthetic may be applied beforehand, and many hyaluronic acid fillers also contain lidocaine.

Most people find the procedure manageable, although individual experiences vary.

Hyaluronic acid dermal fillers can usually be dissolved using an enzyme called hyaluronidase when clinically appropriate.

If you are unhappy with previous filler, Dr Jackie can assess the area and discuss whether dissolving, observation or another approach would be most appropriate.

I was nervous about looking overdone. But Dr Jackie restored just the right amount of volume — my lips feel like mine again, just softer and smoother.
